House and Garden
This has one spaceous double bedroom with plenty of room for a baby bed, which we can provide if needed.
Next to the bedroom is a large bathroom with an Italian shower, a washbasin and a WC.
In the main living area are a well-equipped kitchen and attractive dining area. During the cooler months of the year, the fireplace provides warmth and cosiness. (Logs are available. )
T.V., D.V.D. machine and radio are all installed and ready to use.
From the living room, french doors lead into the south facing garden with its beautifully furnished covered terrace for al fresco dining or relaxing.
Near the west door is a separate WC and a laundry room with a washing machine and ironing equipment.
The lower apartment communicates with the upper apartment by an outside staircase on the west side of the house.
The upper apartment
This is on two levels with an interior staircase.
Serious cooks will appreciate the beautifully equipped kitchen and dining area which open onto a terrace large enough to seat up to twelve people comfortably. Here you can use the Weber barbecue and dine enjoying the marvellous view.
Like the lower apartment, the living area of this apartment has a log fireplace.
The upper apartment can sleep nine people with it’s three bedrooms, one on the ground floor and two upstairs. There is also a sofabed in an alcove upstairs which can sleep two more people just in case you need it. The T.V. and D.V.D. machine are set up here.
There are two bathrooms, one on each level, each with a WC. One has a bath and serves the downstairs bedroom. The other has a shower and serves the two upstairs bedrooms.
There is a separate WC near the staircase on the 2nd floor.
There is internet access throughout the house with WIFI . Private parking next to the house.
Various fruit trees, decorative flowering bushes, shrubs and typically Mediterranean plants adorn the beautifully tended garden which is set into the gentle slope of the valley.
One of our major priorities has been to save the old olive grove and to restore all the dry-stone walls. Indeed, creating the garden has become a never-ending activity and pleasure for us both.
Outside and beyond the garden, the native evergreen oaks can, and do, in good years, harbour truffles around their roots. One of our favourite low season occupations is truffle hunting with our dog, to say nothing of the pleasure of cooking and eating them in the evenings!
The swimming pool
Our «infinity pool» is to be found in the lower garden. It measures 6.5m by 3.8m and is 1.2m deep. In the interests of safety for our younger guests and peace of mind for their parents, this area is securely fenced. Sun loungers are at your disposal and you can relax in the shade, or tan in the Mediterranean sunshine amidst the natural beauty of the surrounding hills.
Country comfort in provence
The Mas Aiguallier is an old, restored, farmhouse, a short walk from the delightful Hamlet of Bernas. Bernas, in turn, is part of the neighbouring medieval village of Montclus, situated on the banks of the River Ceze. The Ceze river valley lies to the west of the River Rhone into which the River Ceze flows north of Avignon.
Nestling on one of the South facing slopes of the Ceze valley, the Mas Aiguallier is surrounded only by fields and forests and is consequently blessed with wonderful views.
The farm was abandoned during the 1930s and has been falling into ruin for decades. Our restoration project has returned this old building to its former glory on the hillside, marrying traditional farmhouse charm with 21st century comfort.
We have created two fully equipped, independent apartments over three floors, with four spaceous bedrooms, sleeping nine people in all. (Eleven, if the sofabed is used ) In this way the Mas Aiguallier can offer comfortable accommodation for two or three families at the same time, or, why not three generations of the same family ?
In any event, whether you are outside or inside, at the Mas Aiguallier there is plenty of room for spending time together or relaxing quietly on your own.
